My short story Paper Airplanes has been published by Day One, a weekly literary magazine run by Amazon.
I’m very happy that the story has finally found a home. First draft to final version took three years. In that span I revised it several times. It also went through two rounds of critique with my writing group. Thank you to my comrades-in-words; your suggestions made the piece much stronger!
Also, Paper Airplanes was rejected twenty-five times. There were moments when I considered retiring it. I have many stories that will only ever exist as files on my computer’s hard drive. They’re not accomplished enough for publication. It’s a hard truth to realize about your work and I was beginning to harbor the same suspicion about Paper Airplanes. But I’m glad I kept submitting. As they say, the twenty-sixth time is a charm.
